When the Domesday was compiled there would have been much spoken evidence given in Saxon to Norman scribes who would have written it down in French for translation into Latin. It is therefore not surprising that place names would have been been rather mangled. The 1800 analysis of the Dorset Domesday has this 3-page list of places, mainly manors, and a list of places not mentioned, of which Pool (Poole) is probably the most notable. It probably came under the jurisdiction of Canford manor.
